Welcome to this short module on the Occupational Health and Safety Act,  General Machinery Regulations (GMR) 2 to 8.  The purpose of this module is to make you familiar with the most relevant general machinery regulations,  and how to apply them in your workplace. You are not expected to memorise the regulations.  Rather,  through the use of interactive videos, slides, fun assessments,  tasks  and quizzes,  the module will help you to recognise, understand and apply the general machinery regulations, in the context of your own work environment.

As part of a blended learning model,  you are asked to complete this short module, along with other modules in the Occupational Health and Safety Act series,  prior to entering scheduled classroom sessions.

What Will You Learn?

  • Understand the general machinery safety regulations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act pertaining to: the supervision, safeguarding and operation of machinery, including electrically alive machinery
  • Understand the required processes for the reporting of incidents pertaining to machinery; the requirements for notifying the inspector of substances kept on premises, and the requirements to inform designated machinery supervisors of the relevant machinery regulations
  • Apply the above GMR's to your specific work environment
  • Discuss the best application of the GMR's to further develop the safety culture within Mpact. (During contact sessions)
